2X YT Agar Plates with Chloramphenicol-34 are nutrient-rich agar media that support the growth and selection of chloramphenicol-resistant E. coli strains. The 2X YT base provides peptides, amino acids, vitamins, and sodium ions, and chloramphenicol facilitates selection and maintenance of plasmid-bearing transformants.

1.6% Tryptone
1.0% Yeast Extract
0.5% Sodium Chloride
1.5% Agar
34µg/mL Chloramphenicol

Antibiotic Selection: Selects and maintains chloramphenicol-resistant plasmids/strains in Escherichia coli and other susceptible bacteria.
Cloning and Transformation: Plates transformants for colony isolation and colony PCR screening under chloramphenicol selection.
Plasmid Preparation Workflows: Provides robust colony growth on rich 2X YT prior to starting liquid cultures for mini/midi/maxi preps.
Protein Expression Strain Maintenance: Maintains expression strains carrying chloramphenicol-resistant vectors for reliable induction experiments.
CFU Enumeration and Purity Checks: Enables selective colony counting and detection of contaminants on chloramphenicol plates.
