LB Agar Plates
LB agar plates are nutrient-rich, solid media used for isolating and maintaining bacterial colonies, particularly E. coli, in molecular biology workflows such as cloning, plasmid screening, and strain preservation.
Our LB agar plates contain tryptone, yeast extract, sodium chloride, and agar, with standard or low-salt (Lennox) variations available to support different bacterial growth conditions.
Yes, we offer pre-supplemented LB agar plates with antibiotics such as ampicillin, kanamycin, or carbenicillin and can include IPTG/X-Gal for blue-white screening or other custom additives.
Plates are supplied pre-poured and shrink-wrapped, and our 100 mm plates come in our proprietary sleeves for easy dispensing and added contamination control. They should typically be stored at 2-8°C and used within the indicated shelf life for optimal performance.
The first and last plate in each lot is tested for sterility and growth performance, and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) can be downloaded or requested to ensure complete quality traceability and compliance. We also maintain retention samples for the lifespan of the product so we can perform further testing as needed.
Allow plates to reach room temperature before inoculation. Open them under aseptic conditions, incubate the agar side down to minimize condensation, and discard after use or upon expiration.
Yes, we can efficiently manufacture custom LB agar plates to your specifications, including up to 5 antibiotics, as well as other additive options such as glucose, arabinose, sucrose, IPTG, X-Gal, Bluo-gal, thymidine, and magnesium sulfate. We can also tailor your plate format, fill volume, and documentation to meet the unique needs of research or production teams.
