2XYT Broth with 2% Glucose is a nutrient-rich medium formulated for the cultivation of laboratory strains of E. coli and related enteric bacteria. The medium provides balanced nitrogen and vitamin sources to support robust cell growth in shake flask and bioreactor applications.

The inclusion of 2% glucose supplies a readily metabolizable carbon source to sustain high-density growth and maintain consistent metabolic activity during exponential phase.

  • 1.6% Tryptone
  • 1.0% Yeast Extract
  • 0.5% Sodium Chloride
  • 2.0% Cerelose Anhydrous Dextrose (Glucose)
  • High-Density Cultivation: Supports rapid, high-yield growth of Escherichia coli for biomass production in rich, glucose-supplemented medium.

  • Plasmid DNA Production: Enhances plasmid yield for mini/midi/maxi preps by promoting robust E. coli growth.

  • Recombinant Protein Expression: Enables pre-induction repression of lac-based systems via glucose, improving stability before IPTG induction in E. coli.

  • Transformation Recovery: Provides gentle, nutrient-rich outgrowth after chemical transformation or electroporation prior to antibiotic selection.

  • Antibiotic Selection and Maintenance: Sustains overnight cultures and starter cultures of resistant E. coli clones.

  • Phage/Phagemid Propagation: Supports M13 and filamentous phage amplification and phagemid production in E. coli hosts.

  • Library Amplification: Promotes growth for cDNA/genomic, phage display, and mutagenesis libraries in E. coli.

  • Glycerol Stock Preparation: Produces dense, healthy cultures for long-term E. coli strain banking.

  • Growth Curves and Physiology: Serves as a rich medium for assessing E. coli growth rates and metabolic studies.

  • Seed Cultures for Scale-Up: Generates robust inocula for fermentation and bioprocess development in E. coli.

  • pH: 7.00 ± 0.10
