1M Tris-HCl, pH 8.5 is a concentrated buffering solution used to maintain a stable pH environment in biochemical and molecular biology workflows. It is suitable for preparing working-strength buffers by dilution and for processes requiring a pH near 8.5.

Applications include buffer preparation for nucleic acid and protein handling, electrophoresis systems, sample resuspension, and enzyme reaction environments compatible with pH 8.5. Intended for laboratory use.

  • 1M Tris-HCl

  • Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR): Component of PCR/qPCR buffers; 1M Tris-HCl maintains optimal pH for polymerase activity.

  • Gel Electrophoresis: Preparation of TAE/TBE for DNA/RNA gels and Tris-Glycine/SDS-PAGE running buffers for proteins.

  • Western Blotting: Used in Tris-Glycine transfer buffers and TBS/TBST wash buffers for consistent pH control.

  • Protein Purification: Buffering in ion-exchange and affinity chromatography to stabilize proteins during binding and elution.

  • Enzyme Assays: Provides stable pH with 1M Tris-HCl for accurate kinetic and activity measurements.

  • Nucleic Acid Extraction and Purification: Preparation of TE and lysis buffers for plasmid prep from Escherichia coli and genomic DNA/RNA workflows.

  • Buffer and Reagent Formulation: Base for TBS, TE, and custom stabilization buffers for proteins and nucleic acids.

  • Sample Storage: Maintains pH in storage buffers to preserve protein and DNA integrity.
