Tryptic Soy Broth is a general-purpose, nutrient-rich liquid medium for the cultivation of a broad range of aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms, including laboratory strains and environmental or clinical isolates such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Enzymatic digests of casein and soybean supply peptides, amino acids, and growth factors; glucose provides a readily metabolizable carbohydrate; dipotassium phosphate contributes buffering capacity; and sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance.

  • 1.70% Tryptone
  • 0.30% Soytone
  • 0.25% Cerelose Anhydrous Dextrose (Glucose)
  • 0.25% Dipotassium Phosphate
  • 0.50% Sodium Chloride
  • General-Purpose Cultivation: Broad growth of aerobic and facultative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis.

  • Growth of Fastidious Organisms: Supports recovery of more demanding microbes (with/without supplements), including Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella enterica.

  • Sterility Testing: Detection of microbial contamination in pharmaceutical and bioprocess samples using a rich, buffered medium.

  • Bioburden and Environmental Monitoring: Enumeration and detection of bacteria from surfaces, air, and water, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus faecalis.

  • Antibiotic Susceptibility (Broth Dilution): Preparation of inocula and MIC testing workflows for clinical and QC labs.

  • Pre-Enrichment for Food and Water Testing: Recovery of stressed cells before selective enrichment, e.g., Salmonella enterica and Listeria monocytogenes.

  • Recovery of Sublethally Injured Cells: Resuscitation after heat, sanitizer, or desiccation stress prior to selective plating.

  • Starter and Seed Cultures: Building biomass for downstream fermentation, cloning, or expression workflows.

  • Maintenance and Propagation of Stock Cultures: Routine passaging of lab strains like E. coli and S. aureus before cryopreservation.

  • Clinical Microbiology Workflows: Non-selective broth for specimen culture or as a base for blood culture with supplements.

  • pH: 7.30 ± 0.10
