1M Tris-HCl, pH 7.4 is a Tris buffer stock in purified water, adjusted to pH 7.4. The 1 M concentration allows dilution to any working Tris concentration. The 1 L fill supports laboratory and pilot-scale buffer preparation.

It is commonly used to prepare Tris buffers for protein purification, molecular biology, and cell work, including Tris–sodium chloride equilibration and chase buffers made with 5M Sodium Chloride. Dilute 50 mL to 1 L for 50 mM Tris. Tris pH falls about 0.03 units per °C rise, so adjust pH at the temperature of use.
