1M Tris Base is a stock of tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane in purified water. It is not pH-adjusted and is strongly alkaline. The 1 L fill supports laboratory and pilot-scale use.

It is commonly used to raise pH and neutralize acidic solutions, such as low-pH chromatography eluates, and as the buffering base for Tris buffers, including anion-exchange chromatography buffers. Add slowly with mixing and monitor pH.
