TE Buffer, pH 8.0, is a Tris-EDTA buffering solution for the preparation and handling of DNA and RNA in molecular biology workflows. DNase/RNase Tested; PCR Grade.

Used for nucleic acid storage, resuspension of DNA pellets, dilution of samples, and preparation of reaction mixes requiring a low ionic strength buffer at pH 8.0. The EDTA component sequesters divalent metal ions to help maintain nucleic acid integrity during handling.

  • 10mM Tris-HCl
  • 1.0mM Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)
  • DNA Storage and Resuspension: Maintains stability of plasmid, genomic, and PCR-amplified DNA at pH 8.0 using 10 mM Tris-HCl, 1.0 mM EDTA.

  • RNA Storage (Short-Term): Provides nuclease inhibition via EDTA chelation during handling of RNA aliquots.

  • PCR/qPCR Template Dilution: Preserves nucleic acid integrity for sensitive amplification while minimizing nuclease activity.

  • NGS Library Handling: Used for resuspension, storage, and dilution of DNA libraries and adapters to reduce degradation.

  • Elution from Purification Media: Serves as an elution buffer for DNA recovery from silica spin columns and magnetic beads.

  • Plasmid Prep Resuspension: Resuspends purified plasmid DNA from Escherichia coli for downstream cloning, sequencing, or transfection.

  • Restriction/Enzymatic Reaction Quenching: Chelates Mg2+ to stop DNase I, exonuclease, or restriction enzyme reactions.

  • Transfection/Microinjection DNA Prep: Buffers DNA used for cell transfection or embryo microinjection to maintain integrity.

  • Spectrophotometric and Fluorometric Standards: Used as a blank or diluent for A260/280 and dye-based nucleic acid quantification.

  • Cloning and Gibson/Assembly Workflows: Stabilizes inserts, vectors, and oligos during setup and storage.

  • pH: 8.00 ± 0.04
  • Conductivity: 700-900µS/cm
