Tryptic Soy Agar Plates with Chloramphenicol-10 are general-purpose agar plates that support the cultivation of diverse bacteria and enable selection of chloramphenicol‑resistant strains. The medium provides a balanced nutrient base suitable for routine culture maintenance and colony isolation.

Inclusion of 10 µg/mL chloramphenicol facilitates selection and maintenance of plasmid-bearing transformants in organisms such as E. coli, allowing growth of chloramphenicol‑resistant colonies while non‑resistant cells are inhibited.

  • 1.5% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Soytone
  • 0.5% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 10µg/mL Chloramphenicol
  • Selection of Chloramphenicol-Resistant Bacteria: Isolating and maintaining plasmid-bearing strains (e.g., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus) using 10 µg/mL chloramphenicol for selective pressure.

  • Environmental Monitoring (Yeasts and Molds): Surface and air sampling in cleanrooms with bacterial suppression for fungal recovery.

  • Fungal Bioburden Testing: Enumeration of yeasts and molds in water, buffers, and raw materials where bacteria are inhibited.

  • Quality Control in Pharma/Cosmetics/Food: Detecting fungal contamination in products while minimizing bacterial overgrowth.

  • Mixed Culture Enrichment for Fungi: Recovery of slow-growing yeasts and molds from complex samples by suppressing fast-growing bacteria.

  • Strain Maintenance with cat Marker: Routine passaging of chloramphenicol-resistant lab strains (e.g., Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis) on a rich TSA base.

  • Verification of Resistance Phenotypes: Confirming chloramphenicol resistance in transformed or clinical isolates (e.g., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus).
