Sodium citrate buffer at pH 6.4 designed for laboratory workflows that require controlled buffering capacity and low ionic strength. The pH facilitates applications that benefit from mildly acidic conditions relative to neutral buffers.

RNase tested to support use in RNA-sensitive procedures, including RNA extraction steps, dilution of RNase-free reagents, and handling of RNA standards. Endotoxin tested for experiments in which endotoxin levels are monitored or controlled, such as immunological assays and cell-based studies.

Functions as a citrate-based chelating buffer that can modulate the availability of divalent cations in enzymatic and biochemical assays. Suitable for sample dilution, reagent preparation, and method development where a defined pH 6.4 environment is required.

  • Nuclease Control in Workflows: The mild chelating capacity of 1mM Sodium Citrate helps limit divalent-cation–dependent RNase/DNase activity during extraction and manipulation.

  • Northern/Southern Blot Washes: Component for preparing dilute SSC-type buffers and high-stringency washes in nucleic acid hybridization protocols.

  • Protein Purification Buffers: Employed as a low-strength buffering agent at pH 6.4 for ion-exchange and size-exclusion chromatography.

  • Dialysis and Buffer Exchange: Provides a gentle, low-ionic-strength medium for exchanging samples into a defined pH 6.4 environment.

  • HPLC/UPLC Mobile Phases: Utilized as a volatile-compatible, low-millimolar buffering component for biomolecule separations near pH 6.4.
