100 mg/mL Spectinomycin Solution is a sterile aqueous antibiotic solution used for the selection and maintenance of spectinomycin-resistant bacterial strains in molecular biology and microbiology workflows.

In culture media, spectinomycin inhibits protein synthesis in susceptible cells, and 50–100 µg/mL enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants in E. coli and other spectinomycin-resistant hosts.

  • 100mg/mL Spectinomycin Dihydrochloride Pentahydrate

  • Bacterial Plasmid Selection (Escherichia coli): Selects and maintains plasmids carrying spectinomycin resistance (aadA) in cloning and protein expression workflows.

  • Agrobacterium Vector Maintenance (Agrobacterium tumefaciens): Maintains binary and helper plasmids during plant transformation workflows.

  • Plastid/Chloroplast Transformation Selection: Selects aadA-marked transformants in plant tissue culture and microalgae using spectinomycin.

  • Cyanobacterial Genetic Engineering (Synechocystis, Synechococcus): Enables selection of transformants and maintenance of shuttle vectors in cyanobacteria.

  • Mycobacterial Genetics (Mycobacterium smegmatis): Selects recombinants carrying spectinomycin resistance cassettes.

  • BAC/Cosmid Maintenance: Preserves large DNA constructs bearing spectinomycin resistance in bacterial hosts.

  • Dual Selection with Streptomycin: Facilitates co-selection for aadA-bearing constructs that confer resistance to spectinomycin and streptomycin.

  • Selective Plating and Broth: Suppresses sensitive background bacteria to isolate spectinomycin-resistant colonies.
