Sabouraud Dextrose Agar Plates are a peptone-based, glucose-enriched solid medium formulated for the cultivation and maintenance of yeasts and filamentous fungi.

The elevated carbohydrate content and acidic formulation support fungal recovery from clinical, environmental, and industrial samples while reducing bacterial background.

Supplied as ready-to-use plates for routine microbiology workflows, suitable for general fungal isolation, colony morphology assessment, and subculture maintenance.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 4.0% Dextrose
  • 1.5% Agar
  • Clinical Mycology: Isolation and cultivation of yeasts and molds (e.g., Candida, Aspergillus, dermatophytes) from patient specimens.

  • Environmental Monitoring: Recovery of airborne and surface fungi in cleanrooms, labs, and production areas.

  • Pharmaceutical/Cosmetics QC: Bioburden testing and enumeration of yeasts and molds per compendial methods (e.g., USP/EP/JP).

  • Food and Beverage Testing: Detection and count of spoilage yeasts and molds in dairy, beverages, and processed foods.

  • Water and Utility Monitoring: Assessment of fungal contamination in process water and utilities.

  • Industrial Microbiology: Raw material, in-process, and finished product testing for fungal contamination.

  • Antifungal Workflows: Primary isolation prior to identification and susceptibility testing of fungal isolates.

  • Strain Maintenance: Routine subculture and maintenance of yeast and mold reference or production strains.

  • Medical Device/Sterility Assurance: Recovery of fungi during bioburden and sterilization validation studies.

  • Mycological Research: General cultivation, colony morphology assessment, and enumeration of fungi.
