1M Sodium Acetate pH 5, Endotoxin Tested is an aqueous acetate buffering solution prepared at pH 5 for use in molecular biology and biochemistry workflows that require acetate-buffered conditions.

This solution is commonly used for nucleic acid precipitation with alcohols, pH control in enzyme reactions that utilize acetate buffers, and handling of plasmid DNA from E. coli lysates and related downstream procedures.

Each lot is tested for bacterial endotoxin by Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay and adjusted to pH 5 at room temperature.

  • 1M Sodium Acetate
  • Nucleic Acid Precipitation: 1M Sodium Acetate is used with ethanol or isopropanol to precipitate and concentrate DNA and RNA for cleanup.

  • Plasmid DNA Workflows: Employed for DNA cleanup/precipitation steps in plasmid preparations from Escherichia coli lysates.

  • Gel Extraction and Cleanup: Provides buffering during recovery of DNA from agarose gels and subsequent precipitation steps.

  • Cation Exchange Chromatography: Serves as an acetate buffer at pH 5.0 for protein binding and elution on cation exchangers.

  • Enzyme Assays: Maintains a stable pH 5.0 environment for acid-active enzymes and biochemical reactions.

  • Protein Formulation and Storage: Used as a low-pH acetate buffer to stabilize proteins and biomolecules during storage or dialysis.

  • Endotoxin-Sensitive Workflows: The endotoxin-tested, sterile 1M Sodium Acetate is suitable for buffer preparation in cell culture–adjacent and downstream bioprocessing steps.

  • pH: 5.00 ± 0.04
  • Endotoxin: ≤0.5EU/mL
