QB Citrate Buffer, pH 6.0 is an aqueous citrate-based buffering solution formulated to maintain a stable, mildly acidic environment for biochemical and laboratory procedures. It provides buffering capacity near pH 6.0 for applications such as enzyme reactions conducted under acidic conditions, nucleic acid and protein workflows, tissue processing steps, and heat-induced antigen retrieval in immunohistochemistry.

Citrate acts as a chelating agent for divalent cations (e.g., Ca2+ and Mg2+), which can influence metal-dependent reactions and sample composition. The buffer is intended for use in pH control, dilution, washing, and preparation steps where consistent acidity is required, and it is miscible with water and commonly used laboratory reagents.

  • 100mM Citrate Buffer Solution
  • Antigen Retrieval (IHC/IF): Heat-induced epitope retrieval for formalin-fixed tissues at pH 6.0.

  • Enzyme Assays: Maintains pH 6.0 for acid-optimized enzymes and activity studies.

  • Protein Purification: Used as equilibration, wash, and elution buffer in ion-exchange and hydroxyapatite chromatography.

  • Dialysis/Desalting: Buffering during buffer exchange and desalting of proteins and nucleic acids.

  • HPLC/LC Mobile Phase: pH control in reverse-phase and ion-exchange separations compatible with UV detection.

  • Nucleic Acid Workflows: pH maintenance for RNA/DNA handling and chelation of trace metals to reduce nuclease activity.

  • Sample Preparation: Tissue and cell lysate extraction, dilution, and stabilization at mildly acidic pH.

  • Microbiology: pH adjustment and buffering in media formulations and acid tolerance studies of Lactobacillus and other lactic acid bacteria.

  • pH: 6.00 ± 0.04
