M Endo LES Agar Plates are ready-to-use, selective and differential agar plates formulated for membrane filtration methods to enumerate total coliforms in water, beverages, and environmental samples. The medium is used in standard procedures where a 0.45 µm membrane carrying the sample is placed onto the agar surface and incubated at 35 ± 0.5 °C for 18–24 h.

Lactose-fermenting coliforms typically produce red to dark red colonies with a metallic sheen, while non-lactose fermenters form pink, pale, or colorless colonies without sheen. Typical target organisms include members of the coliform group such as Escherichia coli, Enterobacter, Klebsiella, and Citrobacter.

Store plates at 2–8 °C, protected from light. Bring to room temperature before use. Do not freeze. Intended for laboratory use in microbiological analysis.

Confirmation of Presumptive Coliforms: Secondary plating to confirm gas-positive tubes from lactose-based enrichment broths.
