LB Broth with Chloramphenicol-25 is a lysogeny broth medium that supports the growth and selection of chloramphenicol-resistant E. coli strains. The liquid format is suitable for propagation and maintenance of cultures, and 25 µg/mL chloramphenicol enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 25µg/ml Chloramphenicol
  • Antibiotic Selection in Liquid Culture: Selects and maintains chloramphenicol-resistant plasmids in Escherichia coli at 25 µg/mL.

  • Overnight Cultures for Plasmid Prep: Grows starter and overnight cultures for mini/midi/maxi preps of CamR plasmids.

  • Post-Transformation Outgrowth: Enriches transformed CamR cells after chemical or electroporation transformation.

  • Colony Screening in Deep-Well/Tubes: Picks colonies into selective liquid media for rapid verification of transformants.

  • Propagation of Low-Copy Vectors: Maintains BACs/cosmids/low-copy plasmids carrying cat (CamR) markers.

  • Dual-Plasmid Maintenance: Sustains systems where one plasmid is CamR, used alongside a second antibiotic as needed.

  • Recombinant Protein Expression: Preserves selection pressure for CamR expression strains or helper plasmids during induction.

  • Library Amplification: Amplifies plasmid libraries (e.g., CRISPR/sgRNA) on CamR backbones.

  • Strain Banking: Prepares and refreshes glycerol stocks of CamR Escherichia coli cultures.

  • Growth Monitoring: Performs growth curves and titering of chloramphenicol-resistant strains.

  • pH: 7.00 ± 0.10
