LB Broth with Ampicillin-50 is a nutrient liquid medium used for growth and selection of ampicillin-resistant E. coli strains. The LB base supplies peptides, amino acids, and vitamins for cultivation, and 50 µg/mL ampicillin sodium salt enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 50µg/mL Ampicillin Sodium Salt
  • Selective Culture of Ampicillin-Resistant Bacteria: Growth and maintenance of AmpR Escherichia coli strains using 50 µg/mL ampicillin.

  • Plasmid Propagation and DNA Preparation: Amplification of plasmids for mini/midi/maxi-preps from AmpR E. coli cultures.

  • Cloning Workflows: Culture of ligation, Gibson, or Golden Gate assemblies under ampicillin selection.

  • Transformation and Selection: Post-recovery selection of transformed AmpR cells and inoculation of liquid selective cultures.

  • Protein Expression: Growth of AmpR expression hosts (e.g., T7-based systems) for recombinant protein production in E. coli.

  • Starter Cultures and Scale-Up: Overnight cultures for scaling to larger volumes while maintaining ampicillin selection.

  • Glycerol Stock Preparation: Preparation of long-term frozen stocks from AmpR strains.

  • Library Construction and Screening: Maintenance and selection of plasmid-based libraries carrying ampicillin resistance markers.

  • Colony Verification Workflows: Culturing candidate clones for downstream PCR, restriction digest, or sequencing validation.

  • Plasmid Stability Assurance: Continuous selection to minimize plasmid loss during routine subculture of AmpR E. coli.

  • pH: 7.00 ± 0.10
