LB Agar Plates with Carbenicillin-150 is an agar medium that supports the growth and selection of carbenicillin-resistant E. coli strains. The inclusion of 150 µg/mL carbenicillin disodium salt enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 150µg/mL Carbenicillin Disodium Salt
  • Selection of Transformants: Recovery and selection of Escherichia coli transformants carrying bla/ampR plasmids using 150 µg/mL carbenicillin.

  • Plasmid Maintenance: Propagation and stability of beta-lactamase–marked cloning/expression vectors in E. coli.

  • Colony Isolation and Purification: Streaking and restreaking to obtain pure carbenicillin-resistant colonies.

  • Colony PCR and Screening: Screening recombinant E. coli colonies for inserts directly from selective plates.

  • Transformation Efficiency and CFU Counting: Quantifying competent cell performance on selective LB agar.

  • High-Density and Replica Plating: Library screening and replica plating on 245 mm plates for large-format workflows.

  • Blue-White Screening (With Supplements): Alpha-complementation screening when plates are supplemented with X-gal/IPTG.

  • Conjugation/Mating Selection: Selecting recipients transconjugants acquiring bla-marked plasmids in E. coli and related Gram-negatives.

  • Colony Picking for Downstream Work: Selecting clones for minipreps, glycerol stocks, and expression studies.

  • Strain Maintenance: Routine culture of carbenicillin-resistant laboratory E. coli strains.
