LB Agar Plates with Carbenicillin-50 is an agar medium that supports the growth and selection of carbenicillin-resistant E. coli strains.

Carbenicillin disodium salt at 50 µg/mL enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants carrying beta-lactam resistance markers.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 50µg/mL Carbenicillin Disodium Salt
  • Transformant Selection: Selects colonies harboring bla-carbenicillin–resistant plasmids after chemical or electroporation transformation in Escherichia coli.

  • Plasmid Maintenance: Maintains selective pressure for plasmid propagation in E. coli cultures.

  • Colony Screening (Blue-White or Reporter-Assisted): Supports screening of recombinant clones when supplemented with X-gal/IPTG or appropriate reporters.

  • Colony PCR: Enables rapid PCR verification directly from antibiotic-selected colonies.

  • CFU Enumeration: Quantifies viable, antibiotic-resistant cells via colony forming unit counts.

  • Streaking and Isolation: Obtains single colonies for clonal isolation and purity checks under beta-lactam selection.

  • Starter Culture Picking: Provides antibiotic-selected colonies for liquid culture inoculation and downstream plasmid prep.

  • Protein Expression Workflow: Prescreens carbenicillin-resistant expression strains of E. coli prior to induction.

  • Glycerol Stock Preparation: Generates verified clonal isolates for long-term storage following selection.

  • Strain Verification: Differentiates resistant vs. sensitive backgrounds during strain construction in E. coli.
