LB Agar with Chloramphenicol-25 and Kanamycin-50 is a solid medium for growth and dual selection of antibiotic-resistant E. coli strains. The inclusion of 25 µg/mL chloramphenicol and 50 µg/mL kanamycin sulfate applies selection pressure for plasmids or constructs carrying both resistance markers.

This medium is used for isolation of transformants, maintenance of dual-selection plasmids, co-transformation workflows, and verification of E. coli strains requiring chloramphenicol and kanamycin resistance.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 25µg/mL Chloramphenicol
  • 50µg/mL Kanamycin Sulfate
  • Dual-Antibiotic Selection of Escherichia coli Transformants: Selects colonies carrying chloramphenicol- and kanamycin-resistance markers (25 µg/mL Cm, 50 µg/mL Kan) on LB agar.

  • Maintenance of Dual-Selectable Plasmids: Preserves plasmids or constructs requiring both cat and kan resistance in Escherichia coli.

  • Two-Plasmid System Support: Enables co-maintenance of compatible vectors (e.g., CRISPR/Cas and donor/helper plasmids) needing Cm and Kan selection.
