LB Agar Plates with Gentamicin-10 is a nutrient agar medium that supports the growth and selection of gentamicin-resistant E. coli strains. 10 µg/mL gentamicin sulfate enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants, and the LB base provides suitable conditions for routine cultivation and colony isolation.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 10µg/mL Gentamicin Sulfate
  • Plasmid Selection in E. coli: Selects for cells carrying gentamicin-resistance plasmids (10 µg/mL) on LB agar for stable maintenance.

  • Transformant Screening: Recovers and identifies successful heat-shock or electroporation transformants under gentamicin selection.

  • Clone Isolation and Single-Colony Purification: Streaks for single colonies to obtain clonal populations maintaining gentamicin-marked constructs.

  • CFU Enumeration Under Selection: Quantifies colony-forming units of gentamicin-resistant cells after dilutions or viability assays.

  • Conjugation and Transposon Mutagenesis Selection: Selects transconjugants or insertion mutants carrying gentamicin resistance in E. coli and related hosts.

  • Contamination Control on Selective Media: Suppresses gentamicin-sensitive contaminants while enriching resistant target strains.

  • Maintenance of Recombinant Strains: Short-term storage and passaging of engineered E. coli strains to retain gentamicin-marked plasmids.

  • Library Plating (Genomic, cDNA, or Transposon): Plates complex libraries to recover and expand clones with gentamicin-selectable markers.

  • Reporter/Expression Construct Maintenance: Ensures retention of gentamicin-marked reporter or expression vectors prior to liquid culture induction.

  • Resistance Phenotype Verification: Confirms gentamicin resistance at 10 µg/mL for strain or plasmid characterization.
