LB Agar Plates with Animal‑Free Soytone and Kanamycin‑50 are solid LB medium plates formulated with animal‑free soytone, yeast extract, sodium chloride, and agar for cultivation of laboratory bacteria. The plates contain 50 µg/mL kanamycin sulfate for selection of kanamycin‑resistant E. coli strains and maintenance of kanamycin‑selectable plasmids.

Suitable for routine cloning workflows including transformant recovery, colony isolation, and propagation of plasmid‑bearing E. coli under kanamycin selection.

  • 1.69% Animal-Free Soytone
  • 0.50% Yeast Extract
  • 1.00% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.50% Agar
  • 50µg/mL Kanamycin Sulfate
  • Selection of Kanamycin-Resistant Transformants: Plating and isolating kanamycin-resistant Escherichia coli colonies after transformation, ligation, Gibson, or Golden Gate cloning.

  • Plasmid Maintenance: Routine culturing and passaging of strains carrying kanamycin-selectable plasmids to preserve construct integrity.

  • Single-Colony Isolation: Streaking for single colonies to ensure clonal purity under kanamycin selection.

  • Colony Screening: Picking colonies for downstream analyses such as colony PCR and Sanger sequencing.

  • CFU Enumeration: Quantifying viable kanamycin-resistant cells following transformation or selection workflows.

  • Genome Editing Selection: Selecting edited strains or allelic exchanges that use kanamycin resistance markers.

  • Transposon Mutagenesis: Selecting insertions from kanamycin-marked transposon libraries.

  • Bacterial Conjugation/Transduction Selection: Selecting recipients that acquire kanamycin-marked elements after conjugation or transduction (e.g., in Escherichia coli or Salmonella enterica).
