LB Agar Plates with Animal‑Free Soytone and Ampicillin‑100 are a nutritionally complete solid medium for cultivation and selection of ampicillin‑resistant E. coli strains. Animal‑free soytone and yeast extract provide peptides, amino acids, nucleotides, and vitamins, sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance, and agar supplies a firm gelling matrix.

Each plate contains 100 µg/mL ampicillin sodium salt to enable selection of plasmid‑bearing transformants in E. coli workflows such as cloning, library propagation, and routine colony isolation.

  • 1.0% Animal-Free Soytone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 100µg/mL Ampicillin Sodium Salt

  • Selection of Ampicillin-Resistant Transformants: Isolates plasmid-bearing Escherichia coli colonies after transformation using 100 µg/mL ampicillin.

  • Cloning and Plasmid Maintenance: Supports propagation and stability of AmpR plasmids in Escherichia coli on solid media.

  • Colony Isolation and CFU Enumeration: Enables streaking and counting of selective colonies to assess transformation efficiency and culture purity.

  • Colony PCR Screening: Facilitates rapid verification of inserts or constructs directly from Amp-selected colonies.

  • Library Screening: Allows selection and picking of recombinant clones from plasmid libraries under ampicillin pressure.

  • Expression Construct Pre-Screening: Screens colonies harboring expression plasmids prior to liquid culture induction.

  • Strain Preservation on Plates: Short-term storage and routine passaging of AmpR Escherichia coli strains by streaking for single colonies.

  • Quality Control of Resistance Markers: Confirms ampicillin resistance phenotypes and plasmid retention across passages.

  • Animal-Free Workflows: Cultivation of recombinant Escherichia coli when animal-free components are required for regulatory or ethical considerations.
