LB Agar Plates with Chloramphenicol-5 are nutrient agar plates that support the growth and selection of chloramphenicol-resistant E. coli strains.

Each plate contains LB agar supplemented with 5 µg/mL chloramphenicol to enable selection of plasmid-bearing transformants and maintenance of chloramphenicol resistance markers.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 5µg/mL Chloramphenicol
  • Antibiotic Selection: Selects chloramphenicol-resistant colonies of Escherichia coli and other bacteria at 5 µg/mL.

  • Plasmid Maintenance: Maintains and propagates cat-marked plasmids in E. coli under chloramphenicol selection.

  • Cloning and Transformation Screening: Screens transformants on selective LB agar following ligation or Gibson assemblies.

  • Recombinant Protein Expression Strain Maintenance: Preserves selection of expression strains carrying chloramphenicol-resistant vectors.

  • BAC/PAC/Cosmid Work: Selects and maintains low-copy constructs that use chloramphenicol resistance.

  • CRISPR/Allelic Exchange Workflows: Selects for cat cassette insertions or replacements during genome editing in E. coli.

  • Transposon Mutagenesis: Recovers and selects chloramphenicol-marked transposon insertion mutants.

  • Colony Isolation and CFU Enumeration: Isolates single colonies and quantifies viable counts under chloramphenicol selection.

  • Conjugation/Mating Selections: Selects transconjugants carrying chloramphenicol resistance markers.

  • Strain Storage and Routine Streaking: Short-term maintenance of chloramphenicol-resistant laboratory strains (e.g., E. coli).
