LB Agar Plates with Chloramphenicol-34 are an agar medium for growth and selection of chloramphenicol-resistant E. coli and compatible host strains. The LB nutrient base supports colony formation and routine propagation.

Chloramphenicol at 34 µg/mL enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants carrying chloramphenicol resistance markers, supporting maintenance of recombinant strains and vector constructs.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 34µg/mL Chloramphenicol
  • Antibiotic Selection of Transformants: Isolates chloramphenicol-resistant colonies after transformation of Escherichia coli (E. coli).

  • Plasmid Maintenance and Propagation: Maintains selection for cat-marked plasmids, BACs, cosmids, or fosmids in E. coli.

  • Clone Screening and Verification: Enables screening of recombinant libraries and verification of inserts by colony picking under chloramphenicol selection.

  • CFU Enumeration and Titering: Quantifies viable chloramphenicol-resistant cells for transformation efficiency and strain viability assessments.

  • Conjugation and Transposition Selection: Recovers transconjugants or transposon insertions carrying chloramphenicol resistance in E. coli or Bacillus subtilis.

  • Expression Strain Maintenance: Supports growth of strains harboring chloramphenicol-selected expression vectors to retain plasmid integrity.

  • Genome Editing Marker Selection: Selects for edits using chloramphenicol resistance cassettes in bacterial engineering workflows.

  • Streaking for Isolation and Short-Term Storage: Produces single colonies and preserves selective pressure during routine culture maintenance.
