LB Agar Plates with Carbenicillin-100 are LB agar medium supplemented with 100 µg/mL carbenicillin disodium salt for growth and selection of carbenicillin-resistant E. coli strains. The LB nutrient base supports cultivation of laboratory E. coli, and the antibiotic enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 100µg/mL Carbenicillin Disodium Salt
  • Antibiotic Selection of Plasmids: Selects and maintains beta-lactam resistance plasmids (AmpR/CarbR) in Escherichia coli using 100 µg/mL carbenicillin.

  • Transformation Plating: Enables recovery and isolation of transformants after chemical or electroporation transformation of Escherichia coli.

  • Cloning and Colony Picking: Supports cloning workflows for colony isolation, propagation, and plasmid maintenance in Escherichia coli.

  • Blue-White Screening: Used for insert screening when supplemented with X-Gal/IPTG to differentiate recombinant clones on carbenicillin plates.

  • Colony PCR/Screening: Provides stable growth for picking colonies for PCR, restriction analysis, or sequencing verification.

  • CFU Enumeration: Quantifies transformation efficiency and bacterial titers by counting colony-forming units.

  • Strain Maintenance: Used for routine streaking, single-colony isolation, and preparing colonies for glycerol stock banking.

  • Protein Expression Workflows: Maintains expression strains carrying beta-lactam–selectable plasmids prior to liquid culture induction.

  • CRISPR/Genome Editing Plasmids: Selects and propagates editing vectors with beta-lactam resistance in Escherichia coli.

  • Satellite Colony Reduction: Preferred over ampicillin plates to minimize satellite colonies in high-density selections.
