LB Agar Plates with Ampicillin-100 are an agar medium for growth and selection of ampicillin-resistant E. coli strains. The LB base supplies nutrients and osmotic balance, and 100 µg/mL ampicillin sodium salt enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 100µg/mL Ampicillin Sodium Salt
  • Antibiotic Selection of Transformants: Selects ampicillin-resistant colonies after plasmid transformation of Escherichia coli using LB (1.0% Tryptone, 0.5% Yeast Extract, 1.0% Sodium Chloride, 1.5% Agar) with 100 µg/mL Ampicillin.

  • Cloning and Plasmid Maintenance: Supports growth and maintenance of plasmid-bearing E. coli strains under ampicillin selection.

  • Colony Screening: Enables screening of recombinant clones (e.g., colony PCR or restriction analysis) from individual colonies.

  • CFU Enumeration: Quantifies transformation efficiency or viable counts of ampicillin-resistant E. coli by plating serial dilutions.

  • Library Construction and Screening: Used for selection and recovery of plasmid libraries in E. coli under β-lactam selection pressure.

  • Blue-White Screening (With Supplements): When supplemented with X-gal and IPTG, supports α-complementation-based screening of recombinant colonies.

  • Strain Archiving and Revival: Picking and streaking single colonies for short-term maintenance and preparing starter cultures of selected E. coli strains.

  • Quality Control of Plasmid Constructs: Verifies antibiotic marker functionality and stability of ampicillin-selectable plasmids in E. coli.
