50 mg/mL Kanamycin Solution is an antibiotic stock used for the selection and maintenance of kanamycin-resistant bacterial strains in cloning and expression workflows. At appropriate dilution, it inhibits growth of kanamycin‑sensitive cells, enabling selection of plasmid-bearing transformants; for example, 50 µg/mL kanamycin in liquid or agar media supports selection of resistant E. coli strains.

This solution is suitable for supplementing nutrient media to maintain selective pressure on kanamycin-resistance markers, facilitating propagation of recombinant cultures and preservation of constructs in routine laboratory applications.

  • 50mg/mL Kanamycin Sulfate
  • Antibiotic Selection in Bacterial Cloning: Selects for KanR plasmid-bearing colonies in E. coli using stock 50mg/mL Kanamycin Sulfate diluted to working concentration.

  • Plasmid Maintenance: Maintains antibiotic pressure in liquid cultures of E. coli and Agrobacterium tumefaciens to prevent plasmid loss.

  • Agar/Broth Supplementation: Added to LB agar and broth for routine selection and screening of transformants.

  • Protein Expression: Preserves KanR vectors during recombinant protein production in E. coli induction cultures.

  • Plant Transformation Selection: Used to select nptII (neo/kan) transgenic tissues/seedlings following Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.

  • Transposon and Genetic Screens: Enables selection of kanamycin-marked transposons, integration cassettes, and recombineering inserts in E. coli and other bacteria.

  • Strain Purification: Counters growth of non-resistant contaminants during isolation and propagation of engineered bacterial strains.
