King’s Medium A Plates (Pseudomonas Agar F) are solid agar plates for cultivation of Pseudomonas species and visualization of fluorescein (pyoverdine) production. The formulation supports growth and facilitates detection of yellow-green fluorescence under long-wave UV light, aiding differentiation of fluorescein-producing strains such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Applications include routine cultivation of Pseudomonas spp., assessment of pigment production, and screening of environmental or clinical isolates where fluorescein-based differentiation is required.

  • 2.00% Proteose Peptone
  • 1.00% Glycerol
  • 1.00% Potassium Sulfate
  • 0.35% Magnesium Chloride
  • 1.50% Agar
  • Isolation of Pseudomonads: Selective cultivation of Pseudomonas spp. from clinical, environmental, and industrial samples.

  • Pyocyanin Pigment Induction: Promotes blue-green pyocyanin production for presumptive identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

  • Differentiation of Species: Distinguishes pigmented Pseudomonas isolates by colony color and morphology on a glycerol-, K2SO4-, and MgCl2-supplemented agar.

  • Quality Control Monitoring: Detection and enumeration of Pseudomonas contamination in water systems, cleanrooms, and process utilities.

  • Pre-enrichment for Downstream Testing: Growth of Pseudomonas isolates prior to antibiotic susceptibility, biochemical panels, or molecular assays.

  • Environmental Surveillance: Recovery of Pseudomonas from soils, wastewater, and surfaces for routine monitoring programs.

  • Teaching and Demonstration: Classroom and training labs to demonstrate pigment production and colony characteristics of Pseudomonas spp.

  • Strain Maintenance: Routine subculture and maintenance of laboratory Pseudomonas strains, including P. aeruginosa and P. fluorescens.
