50% (w/w) Glucose Solution is an aqueous preparation of anhydrous D-glucose at a mass fraction of 50%, suitable for use as a concentrated carbon source in laboratory and bioprocess workflows. It is commonly incorporated into culture media, feeds, and supplements for microorganisms such as E. coli, yeasts, and filamentous fungi, and can be diluted to desired working concentrations.

The solution is miscible with water and compatible with typical media components, salts, amino acids, vitamins, and antibiotics. For sterile applications, aseptic preparation and membrane filtration (e.g., 0.22 µm) are recommended to minimize thermal degradation. Store tightly closed to limit moisture uptake and caramelization; mix thoroughly before use to ensure homogeneity.

  • 50% (w/w) Cerelose Anhydrous Dextrose (Glucose)
  • Media Supplementation for Microbial Growth: Sterile carbon source to supplement complex media (e.g., LB, TB) for improved growth and reduced acetate formation in high-density cultures of Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

  • Defined/Minimal Media Preparation: Primary carbon source in formulations such as M9 or MOPS minimal media for controlled growth physiology and metabolic studies.

  • Fed-Batch Fermentation Feeds: High-concentration glucose feed for controlled delivery in bioreactors to support high cell density cultures and maintain optimal carbon-to-nitrogen ratios.

  • Yeast and Fungal Cultivation: Dextrose component for media like YPD/YPD-Glucose to support robust growth and fermentative metabolism in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and other fungi.

  • Mammalian Cell Culture Glucose Adjustment: Sterile addition to DMEM or other media to maintain target glucose levels during batch and fed-batch processes (e.g., CHO cultures).

  • Expression Control via Catabolite Repression: Low-level glucose addition to suppress basal expression from lac/T7 systems during cloning and pre-induction growth of Escherichia coli.

  • Metabolic and Transport Assays: Substrate for glucose uptake, consumption rate, and glycolytic flux measurements in bacteria and yeast.

  • Aseptic Media and Buffer Preparation: Convenient sterile stock for rapid, contamination-free preparation and adjustment of culture media and feed solutions.

  • Starter Culture Preparation: Rapid supplementation of seed cultures to build biomass prior to scale-up in fermenters.

  • Osmotic and Stress Response Studies: Controlled modulation of osmolarity and carbon availability in microbial physiology experiments.
