Guanidine hydrochloride solution, non-sterile, is a chaotropic reagent for denaturation of proteins and nucleic acids, cell and tissue lysis, and promotion of nucleic acid binding in silica-based purification workflows. It is suitable for procedures such as RNA and DNA extraction, protein unfolding, and inactivation of nucleases during sample preparation.

Non-sterile; sterile filtration is recommended for applications requiring sterility. Store at ambient temperature and protect from contamination. Do not mix with oxidizing agents such as sodium hypochlorite. For laboratory use only.

  • 6M Guanidine Hydrochloride
  • Nucleic Acid Extraction (Silica-Based): 6M Guanidine Hydrochloride acts as a chaotropic agent to lyse samples, inactivate nucleases, and promote DNA/RNA binding to silica matrices.

  • RNA Preservation: Maintains RNase-inactivating conditions during tissue and cell homogenization for downstream RT-qPCR and sequencing.

  • Protein Denaturation and Refolding: Solubilizes inclusion bodies from E. coli and supports unfolding/refolding screens for protein recovery.

  • Denaturing IMAC Purification: Enables His-tagged protein purification under denaturing conditions to recover insoluble or aggregated targets.

  • Sample Lysis for Molecular Diagnostics: Provides chaotropic lysis and enzyme inactivation for downstream PCR/RT-qPCR workflows.

  • Chromatography Under Denaturing Conditions: Facilitates HIC elution and SEC runs requiring complete protein unfolding.

  • Prevention of Protein Aggregation: Disrupts intermolecular interactions to dissolve aggregates during sample preparation.

  • Nucleic Acid Hybridization Stringency: Increases stringency in certain hybridization and wash buffers for probe-based assays.

  • Protein Stability and Unfolding Studies: Used to generate chemical denaturation curves for thermodynamic stability measurements.
