Benzonase Nuclease is a nonspecific endonuclease from Serratia marcescens that hydrolyzes DNA and RNA to short oligonucleotides. It acts on single- and double-stranded, linear and circular nucleic acids.

It is used to reduce viscosity in cell lysates and process intermediates, remove residual host-cell nucleic acids from protein preparations, and support workflows in protein purification, viral vector and vaccine manufacturing, and sample preparation for chromatography and filtration.
