100 mg/mL Carbenicillin Solution is a sterile-filtered antibiotic stock for preparing selective media used with beta-lactam–resistant bacterial strains. It is commonly added to culture media for selection and maintenance of plasmid-bearing E. coli transformants, with typical working concentrations of 50–100 µg/mL depending on application.

This solution is supplied ready to use for media supplementation and is suitable for routine cloning, plasmid propagation, and recombinant strain maintenance in E. coli. Store frozen to preserve activity and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.

  • 100mg/mL Carbenicillin Disodium Salt
  • Antibiotic Selection in Cloning/Transformation: Selects Escherichia coli/E. coli carrying bla/AmpR plasmids at 50–100 µg/mL, reducing satellite colonies compared to ampicillin.

  • Plasmid Maintenance in Liquid Culture: Maintains selection pressure in overnight and preparative cultures of E. coli for stable plasmid retention.

  • Agar Plate and Media Preparation: Supplementation of LB or other media for plate pouring and liquid growth at standard working concentrations.

  • Protein Expression Cultures: Supports selection of AmpR expression vectors in E. coli during induction and scale-up.

  • Blue-White Screening: Used on IPTG/X-Gal plates to select and screen recombinant colonies in E. coli.

  • Library Construction and Colony Picking: Enables selection of large plasmid libraries and robust colony isolation in E. coli.

  • Glycerol Stock Preservation: Maintains selective pressure during preparation and storage of E. coli stocks.

  • Plant Tissue Culture (Post-Transformation): Helps eliminate Agrobacterium tumefaciens overgrowth after co-cultivation.

  • Control of Gram-Negative Contaminants: Active against organisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa in microbial workflows.
