Chloramphenicol Solution is a prepared antimicrobial stock used for the preparation of selective media and culture conditions targeting chloramphenicol resistance. It enables selection and maintenance of plasmids bearing chloramphenicol resistance markers in bacterial hosts.

Common applications include selecting transformants and maintaining plasmids in laboratory strains of E. coli and other chloramphenicol-resistant bacteria. The solution is intended for dilution into growth media to achieve the desired final selective concentration.

  • 34mg/mL Chloramphenicol
  • Ethyl Alcohol
  • Bacterial Plasmid Selection: Selecting and maintaining chloramphenicol-resistant plasmids in Escherichia coli and related hosts.

  • BAC/Fosmid Maintenance: Amplification and stability of bacterial artificial chromosomes and fosmids in Escherichia coli.

  • Agrobacterium Vector Selection: Selecting chloramphenicol-resistant binary vectors in Agrobacterium tumefaciens for plant transformation workflows.

  • Cyanobacteria/Microalgae Engineering: Selection of transformants carrying chloramphenicol resistance in cyanobacteria and microalgae.

  • Microbiology Media Supplementation: Supplementing agar plates and liquid media for selection and maintenance of chloramphenicol-resistant strains.

  • Bacterial Contamination Control: Suppressing bacterial contaminants in eukaryotic, insect, or fungal cultures when appropriate.

  • Translation Inhibition Studies: Inhibiting prokaryotic protein synthesis in bacterial cells or cell-free systems for mechanistic research.
