100 mg/mL Ampicillin is a sterile antibiotic stock solution prepared at a defined concentration for supplementation of microbial growth media. It is commonly used for selection and maintenance of plasmids bearing beta-lactam resistance markers in E. coli and related workflows in molecular cloning.

This concentration is suitable for preparing working solutions in liquid culture or agar media for the selection of ampicillin-resistant strains. The solution can be added to cooled autoclaved media or directly to sterile culture systems as part of routine laboratory practices in microbial genetics and recombinant DNA applications.

100mg/mL Ampicillin Sodium Salt

Bacterial Selection: Selects transformants carrying bla (ampR) on agar plates and in liquid culture (e.g., LB, 2xYT, TB) with Escherichia coli/E. coli.
Plasmid Maintenance: Maintains plasmids with ampicillin resistance in cloning strains of Escherichia coli/E. coli.
Protein Expression: Ensures selection during recombinant protein production in Escherichia coli/E. coli expression strains.
Blue-White Screening: Used with X-gal/IPTG on ampicillin plates for lacZ α-complementation screening in Escherichia coli/E. coli.
Library and Vector Workflows: Supports selection for BACs, fosmids, phagemids, and display libraries propagated in Escherichia coli/E. coli.
Starter and Glycerol Stocks: Maintains selective pressure in overnight cultures and long-term stocks of Escherichia coli/E. coli.
General Media Supplementation: Added to sterilized media post-cooling to inhibit growth of non-resistant bacteria in routine cloning workflows.
