50 mg/mL Ampicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic stock used in molecular biology and microbiology workflows. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by targeting penicillin-binding proteins, and is commonly applied for maintaining plasmids that carry beta-lactamase genes in E. coli and related hosts.

Typical working concentrations in liquid or solid media are 50–200 µg/mL, with 100 µg/mL frequently used for plasmid selection in E. coli. Store at -20°C, protected from light; avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Prepare media and supplements using aseptic technique.

  • Contamination Control in Bacterial Media: Suppresses growth of ampicillin-sensitive bacteria in routine culture media.
