50mM Ammonium Bicarbonate is a ready-to-use, volatile bicarbonate buffer in purified water, near pH 8. The 1 L fill supports laboratory and pilot-scale use.

It is commonly used for tryptic digestion of proteins for peptide mapping and LC-MS proteomics, since the buffer is volatile and LC-MS compatible. Use fresh aliquots, since bicarbonate loses carbon dioxide and pH drifts upward once opened.
