Peptone Water in ready-to-use tubes formulated as a non-selective diluent for sample preparation, serial dilutions, and rinsing procedures in food, environmental, and clinical microbiology. Suitable for handling a broad range of microorganisms, including E. coli, Salmonella spp., and Staphylococcus aureus.

Each tube contains 9.9 mL to accommodate addition of 0.1 mL sample for a 1:100 dilution. Supplied as 25 tubes per pack.

  • 0.1% Peptone
  • Microbiological Sample Diluent: 0.1% Peptone Water used for serial dilutions of food, dairy, water, and environmental samples for aerobic plate counts, coliforms, and pathogens (e.g., Salmonella, Escherichia coli).

  • Rinse/Neutral Diluent for Surface and Carcass Sampling: 0.1% Peptone used to rinse swabs, utensils, and carcasses to recover stressed bacteria without promoting growth.

  • Membrane Filtration Support: Employed as a rinse and suspension medium for filters in water and beverage testing to improve organism recovery.

  • Stomaching/Homogenization Medium: Used in sample preparation (blender/stomacher) to release microorganisms from food matrices for downstream plating.

  • Most Probable Number (MPN) Diluent: Provides a consistent 0.1% Peptone matrix for preparing serial dilutions in MPN assays for indicator organisms.

  • Plating Blanks for Pour/Spread Plates: Serves as a non-nutritive 0.1% Peptone blank to adjust inoculum volumes for accurate colony counts.

  • Suspension Medium for Identification Tests: Maintains cell integrity for biochemical, antigen, and rapid ID assays without inhibiting detection.

  • Holding/Transport Medium: Maintains viability of microbes during short-term handling and transport without significant multiplication.

  • Culture Rehydration and Inoculum Prep: Used to rehydrate lyophilized strains and standardize inocula for comparative testing of organisms such as Listeria, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas.
