LB Agar Plates with Ampicillin-100 is an LB-based agar medium that supports the growth and selection of ampicillin-resistant E. coli strains. The inclusion of 100 µg/mL ampicillin sodium salt enables selection of plasmid-bearing transformants.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Tastone 900
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.8% Agar
  • 100µg/mL Ampicillin Sodium Salt
  • Plasmid Selection and Maintenance: Selects and maintains ampicillin-resistant plasmids in Escherichia coli (E. coli).

  • Bacterial Transformation Screening: Enables recovery and screening of transformants carrying AmpR plasmids; compatible with optional X-gal/IPTG for blue-white screening.

  • Colony Isolation for Downstream Workflows: Picking single colonies to start overnight cultures for plasmid prep, sequencing, or expression tests in E. coli.

  • CFU Enumeration and Transformation Efficiency: Quantifies colony-forming units under ampicillin selection to assess cloning and transformation success.

  • Library and Variant Screening: Screens mutagenesis or combinatorial libraries where the selectable marker is AmpR.

  • Plasmid Stability Assays: Monitors maintenance of AmpR constructs across passages under selective pressure in E. coli.

  • Phagemid and Display Workflows: Maintains AmpR phagemids (e.g., M13 systems) during cloning and rescue steps in E. coli.

  • Conjugation/Mating Selections: Selects transconjugants carrying AmpR plasmids in compatible hosts such as Escherichia coli.
