Saturated Cesium Chloride (1.9 g/mL) is a high-density aqueous salt solution used to prepare buoyant density gradients for ultracentrifugation. It supports isopycnic separation of nucleic acids, including plasmid DNA and RNA, based on differences in buoyant density.

Suitable for gradient formation with or without intercalating dyes. Store at room temperature unless otherwise specified by protocol, and handle using appropriate laboratory PPE.

  • Saturated Cesium Chloride (1.9g/mL)
  • Isopycnic Density Gradient Centrifugation: Creates CsCl gradients for precise separation of nucleic acids by buoyant density.

  • Plasmid DNA Purification: Bands covalently closed circular plasmids away from genomic DNA and RNA from Escherichia coli lysates.

  • Viral and Phage Genome Purification: Isolates viral particles and genomes, including bacteriophages, for downstream analysis.

  • DNA/RNA Fractionation for Sequencing and Cloning: Separates ccc, nicked, linear DNA, and RNA for high-purity prep prior to sequencing or cloning.

  • Stable Isotope Probing (SIP): Resolves 13C/15N-labeled DNA from unlabeled DNA in microbial ecology studies (e.g., communities including Bacillus subtilis).

  • Organelle DNA Isolation: Enriches mitochondrial and chloroplast DNA from eukaryotic samples.

  • Analytical Ultracentrifugation: Determines nucleic acid buoyant densities and estimates GC content using CsCl equilibrium gradients.
