Cesium Chloride is a laboratory reagent used to form density gradients for the purification and fractionation of nucleic acids, including plasmid DNA from E. coli lysates, as well as the separation of viral particles and RNA based on buoyant density. It is suitable for isopycnic ultracentrifugation workflows and for applications requiring a cesium ion source in molecular biology and analytical procedures.

  • Cesium Chloride (1.3 g/mL)
  • Plasmid DNA Purification (CsCl Density Gradient): Cesium Chloride (1.3 g/mL) enables isopycnic ultracentrifugation of plasmid DNA from Escherichia coli, yielding highly pure, supercoiled DNA.

  • Viral Vector Purification: Used to form stable density gradients for purification of AAV, adenovirus, and bacteriophages from host lysates.

  • Genomic DNA/RNA Separation: Supports equilibrium gradients to separate and purify high–molecular weight genomic DNA and RNA based on buoyant density.

  • Endotoxin Reduction in DNA Preps: Classic CsCl–EtBr methods with Cesium Chloride (1.3 g/mL) reduce protein, RNA, and endotoxin contaminants in plasmid preparations.

  • Buoyant Density and GC-Content Analyses: Resolves DNA species by buoyant density for applications such as isotope labeling studies and GC-content profiling.

  • Bacteriophage Isolation: Concentrates and purifies phage particles propagated in Escherichia coli using isopycnic gradients.

  • Exosome and Vesicle Enrichment (Research Use): Employed in some workflows to separate extracellular vesicles by density during ultracentrifugation.
