1000X Trace Metals is a concentrated aqueous supplement providing a defined blend of trace elements for preparation of chemically defined and minimal media. It is intended for use at 1:1000 dilution to supply micronutrients in microbial, algal, and cell culture applications, including work with E. coli.

Each lot is released against compendial quality attributes, including pH (USP <791>), conductivity (USP <644>), osmolality (USP <785>), density (USP <841>), and sterility (USP <71>). The solution is sterile-filtered and packaged for aseptic addition to media and buffers.

  • Recombinant Protein Expression: Supports folding and activity of metal-dependent proteins (e.g., Ni/Fe enzymes, Zn-finger proteins, Cu-oxidases) in microbial and mammalian hosts.

  • Metalloenzyme Assays: Supplies defined concentrations of Fe, Mn, Zn, Co, Cu, Ni, Mo, and Se for in vitro enzyme kinetics and cofactor reconstitution.

  • Algal and Cyanobacterial Culture: Provides trace metals for photoautotrophic growth and chlorophore/cofactor synthesis in defined media.

  • Media Optimization and DoE: Enables controlled titration of individual metals (e.g., FeCl3, ZnSO4, Na2MoO4, Na2SeO3) during formulation screening.

  • Bioreactor Scale-Up: Sterile 1000X format simplifies sterile additions and maintains consistent osmolality and conductivity across scales.
