Tryptic Soy Broth is a general-purpose nutrient medium used for the cultivation of a broad range of aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica, and Streptococcus spp.

Enzymatic digests of casein and soybean supply amino acids and peptides as nitrogen sources; glucose provides a readily metabolizable carbon source; sodium chloride helps maintain osmotic balance; and dibasic potassium phosphate contributes buffering capacity. Typical applications include preparation of inocula, maintenance of pure cultures, microbial enumeration, and sterility testing workflows.

  • 1.70% Tryptone
  • 0.30% Soytone
  • 0.25% Glucose
  • 0.50% Sodium Chloride
  • 0.25% Potassium Phosphate Dibasic
  • General Bacterial Cultivation: Broad-purpose growth of aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

  • Sterility and Bioburden Testing: Detection of microbial contamination in pharmaceuticals, biologics, and medical devices via direct inoculation or membrane filtration.

  • Environmental Monitoring: Recovery and enrichment of microorganisms from air, surfaces, and water in cleanrooms and production areas.

  • Growth Promotion Testing (GPT): Quality control of culture media by verifying recovery of specified microorganisms (e.g., Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa).

  • Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing: Broth dilution and MIC determinations for antibiotics against clinical and industrial isolates.

  • Clinical Sample Enrichment: Pre-enrichment of fastidious or low-level organisms from patient specimens and as a base for blood culture systems.

  • Food and Beverage Testing: Enrichment and detection of pathogens and spoilage organisms from meat, dairy, produce, and beverages.

  • Water and Utility Testing: Detection and enumeration of heterotrophic bacteria in process water and rinsates.

  • Microbial Enumeration: Serial dilution, MPN, and general viability assessments for bacterial counts.

  • Seed Culture Preparation: Establishing starter cultures for fermentation, scale-up, and downstream applications.

  • pH: 7.30 ± 0.10
