0.9% Saline Solution is an isotonic aqueous solution for general laboratory use. It is used for washing and resuspending cells, including E. coli, maintaining osmotic balance during sample handling, and preparing dilutions where ionic strength must be controlled.

Applications include rinsing cultureware and instruments, preparing cell suspensions and blanks for spectrophotometric measurements, and serving as a diluent or carrier for compatible reagents and samples in microbiology, molecular biology, and analytical workflows.

  • 0.9% Sodium Chloride
  • Cell and Tissue Washing: Isotonic rinsing of cells and tissues to minimize osmotic stress during handling and processing.

  • Sample Dilution and Resuspension: Diluting and resuspending cell pellets and microbial colonies (e.g., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) for downstream analyses.

  • Microbiological Assays: Preparing saline suspensions for colony counting, serial dilutions, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

  • Reagent Reconstitution: Reconstituting lyophilized standards, controls, and reference materials where a simple isotonic solution is required.

  • Spectrophotometry and Turbidity Controls: Preparing blanks and standard suspensions for OD and turbidity measurements.

  • Flow Cytometry Sample Medium: Maintaining isotonic conditions for cell suspensions during analysis and sorting.

  • General Rinsing in Aseptic Workflows: Sterile rinsing of labware, instruments, and filtration devices to remove residual reagents.

  • Osmotic Balance in Assays: Adjusting ionic strength in biochemical and diagnostic workflows that require 0.9% Sodium Chloride.
