5M Sodium Chloride is a concentrated sodium chloride stock in purified water. The 5 M concentration sets high ionic strength with minimal added volume. The 1 L fill supports laboratory and pilot-scale buffer preparation.

It is commonly used to prepare buffers at a defined ionic strength, adjust conductivity before chromatography, and build high-salt wash and elution buffers in protein purification. Adding 30 mL per liter gives 150 mM; 200 mL per liter gives 1 M.
