YPD Broth is a complex, nutrient-rich medium for cultivation and propagation of budding yeasts such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Peptone and yeast extract supply amino acids, peptides, vitamins, and trace elements, while glucose provides a readily metabolizable carbon and energy source to support robust heterotrophic growth.

YPD Broth is suitable for routine culture maintenance, biomass production, and general-purpose physiological studies of laboratory yeast strains under nonselective conditions.

  • 2.0% Peptone
  • 1.0% Yeast Extract
  • 2.0% Cerelose Anhydrous Dextrose (Glucose)
  • Routine Yeast Cultivation: Rich, non-selective medium for robust growth of budding and other non-fastidious yeasts.

  • Starter and Overnight Cultures: Used to generate high-density inocula for downstream experiments and fermentations.

  • Post-Transformation Recovery: Supports rapid outgrowth after LiAc/PEG or electroporation prior to selection.

  • Growth Curves and Physiology: Enables reproducible doubling-time measurements and stress-response studies.

  • Protein Expression in Yeast: Supports heterologous protein production and secretion in yeast hosts.

  • Biomass and Metabolite Production: Used for fermentation studies and metabolomics requiring high cell mass.

  • Pre-Enrichment Before Plating: Grows cells in broth prior to plating on selective or differential media.

  • Glycerol Stock Preparation: Grows healthy cultures for long-term cryopreservation.

  • Strain Maintenance: Reliable medium for routine passaging and revival of yeast strains.

  • Pre-Culture for Mating/Sporulation Workflows: Generates vigorous cells before transfer to dedicated mating or sporulation media.
