YM Broth is a nutrient-rich liquid medium for cultivation and maintenance of yeasts and molds in laboratory culture.

It supplies peptides and amino acids from tryptone and yeast extract, vitamins and growth factors from yeast and malt extracts, and glucose as a readily metabolized carbon source, making it suitable for routine propagation, enumeration, and morphological studies of fungal isolates.

  • 0.3% Yeast Extract
  • 0.5% Tryptone
  • 0.3% Malt Extract
  • 1.0% Cerelose Anhydrous Dextrose (Glucose)
  • Cultivation of yeasts and molds: General-purpose growth and propagation of fungal isolates from food, beverage, environmental, and clinical samples.

  • Enrichment before enumeration: Pre-enrichment of samples for subsequent plating on YM Agar or other fungal media to quantify yeasts and molds.

  • Starter culture preparation: Generation of robust pre-cultures for fermentation trials, strain maintenance, and assay setup.

  • Recovery of stressed fungi: Resuscitation of sublethally injured or preservative-stressed yeasts and molds prior to detection.

  • Sterility testing and bioburden monitoring: Detection of fungal contamination in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceutical, and beverage workflows.

  • Quality control and growth promotion: Verification of fungal growth performance for media QC and process validation.

  • Sporulation and morphology studies: Cultivation supporting sporulation/conidiation and microscopic examination of yeasts and molds.

  • Pre-culture for antifungal testing: Preparation of standardized fungal inocula for downstream susceptibility or efficacy assays.

  • pH: 6.20 ± 0.10
