Tris-HCl buffer at pH 8.0 is a general-purpose aqueous buffer used in molecular biology and biochemistry workflows, providing pH control for nucleic acid handling, enzymatic reactions, and protein-related procedures.

DNase/RNase Tested indicates each lot is assessed for detectable DNase and RNase contamination. Common applications include dilution of nucleic acid samples, resuspension of DNA or RNA pellets, preparation of electrophoresis-related solutions, and other nuclease-sensitive procedures.

  • 10mM Tris-HCl
  • Nucleic Acid Resuspension and Storage: Used to resuspend and store DNA or RNA at pH 8.0 while minimizing nuclease activity.

  • Primer, Probe, and Oligo Dilution: Provides a low-ionic-strength, nuclease-tested medium for stable oligonucleotide dilution.

  • PCR/qPCR Template and Reagent Dilution: Maintains consistent pH during dilution of templates, standards, and enzymes for amplification workflows.

  • RNA Workflows: Suitable for resuspending RNA, cDNA, and in vitro transcription products due to DNase/RNase-tested sterility.

  • Restriction Digest and Ligation Diluent: Used to dilute enzymes and DNA without EDTA or salts that can inhibit activity.

  • DNA Sequencing and Library Prep: Provides a gentle, EDTA-free buffer for DNA normalization and cleanup steps.

  • Dialysis and Desalting Buffer Base: Serves as a starting buffer for dialysis or desalting where a simple 10mM Tris-HCl, pH 8.0 environment is needed.

  • Protein and Enzyme Assays: Maintains stable pH for enzyme activity and stability in low-ionic-strength conditions.

  • Column Equilibration/Wash (Chromatography): Acts as a base buffer for ion-exchange or affinity workflows after supplementing with appropriate salts or cofactors.

  • Cloning Workflows in Escherichia coli: Used for plasmid DNA handling, dilution, and transformation prep steps where nuclease-free conditions are critical.
