10% Tween-20 is a nonionic surfactant solution intended for laboratory workflows that require controlled reduction of surface tension and gentle dispersal of biomolecules. It is commonly used as an additive in aqueous buffers for washing steps in immunoassays and blotting workflows, for membrane permeabilization procedures, and for preparation of samples where minimal protein denaturation is desired.

Typical working concentrations range from 0.01% to 1% after dilution in compatible aqueous buffers. Mix thoroughly before use to ensure homogeneity. Store tightly closed at ambient laboratory temperatures; avoid freezing and excessive heat. For laboratory use only.

  • 10% Tween-20

  • ELISA: Added to wash buffers to reduce nonspecific binding and background signal.

  • Western Blotting: Included in TBST wash and blocking buffers to minimize nonspecific antibody interactions.

  • Immunofluorescence/IHC: Used for gentle permeabilization and blocking to improve antibody access and reduce background.

  • Flow Cytometry: Added to staining/wash buffers to reduce cell clumping and nonspecific binding.

  • Protein Solubilization: Non-ionic detergent for gentle solubilization of membrane proteins and lipids.

  • PCR/qPCR: Low percentages prepared from 10% Tween-20 reduce enzyme adsorption to plastics and improve reaction consistency.

  • Immunoprecipitation: Included in bead wash buffers to decrease nonspecific protein–protein interactions.

  • Cell Permeabilization: Mild detergent treatment to permeabilize cells for intracellular staining.

  • Plate Blocking/Coating: Used with blocking agents to prevent nonspecific adsorption on microplates.

  • Sample and Surface Wetting: Employed as a surfactant in swab buffers and cleaning solutions to improve wetting and removal of hydrophobic residues.
