Animal-Free Soytone is an enzymatic hydrolysate of soybean protein used as a complex nitrogen and peptide source in microbiological culture media and fermentation processes. Derived entirely from plant material, it provides peptides, amino acids, and other growth-supporting nutrients for undefined media formulations.

Typical uses include preparation of broth and agar for cultivation of microorganisms such as E. coli, other bacteria, yeasts, and filamentous fungi. Supplied as a dry powder for reconstitution in water and subsequent sterilization according to laboratory requirements.

  • Animal-Free Soytone
  • Microbial Culture Media: Nitrogen-rich peptone substitute used in formulating animal-free media to support robust growth of bacteria, yeast, and fungi; compatible with Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus.

  • Recombinant Protein Fermentation: Animal-Free Soytone serves as a complex nutrient source for high-density microbial fermentations, including Escherichia coli and Bacillus expression systems.

  • Antibiotic and Enzyme Production: Supports secondary metabolite and enzyme biosynthesis in industrial strains such as Streptomyces and Bacillus.

  • Probiotic Manufacturing: Provides growth support for probiotic bacteria including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium in animal-free formulations.

  • Vaccine and Diagnostic Media: Component in animal-free upstream media for microbial antigen production and diagnostic reagent manufacturing.

  • Quality Control and Microbial Testing: Used in compendial and in-house media for sterility, bioburden, and microbial limits testing with organisms like Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

  • Food and Beverage Microbiology: Nutrient supplement for cultivating process-relevant microbes and conducting contamination assessments.

  • Media Development and Optimization: Employed in DoE screening to optimize complex nitrogen sources in animal-free formulations.
